Biographical or historical data
Arthur Gordon Rippey (1907-1995) was a Colo. businessman, vintage car collector and dealer. He moved with his family from Detroit, Mich. to Denver, Colo. in 1943 where he established the advertising agency, that by 1956, was known as Rippey, Henderson, Bucknum & Co. Rippey was also interested in collecting vintage automobiles and had a museum built in 1963 to house his private car collection. Rippey's Veteran Car Museum opened to the public in 1966 and closed in 1980. He was married to Helen E. Crabbs (1907-1991) in 1933. The couple had three children: Cynthia Reed, Arthur Gordon III, and Bruce Richard Rippey. Helen Rippey was the niece of Agnes Reid Tammen (1865-1942), who was married to Harry H. Tammen (1856-1924), one of the owners of the Denver Post newspaper.
