- African American born on Septemer 12, 1895. His family helped build Denver, Colorado, bought land in the growing city. Resided at the African American colony of Dearfield (Colo.) from 1909-1917. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Spent time as a cowboy, Pullman porter, and Five Points businessman.
