Biographical or historical data
Thomas R. Brooks was born on April 21, 1945 in Shrewsbury, Mass. and enlisted in the Army on July 9, 1943 at Ft. Devens, Mass. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried and had completed three years of high school. Brooks joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company L of the 90th Infantry Regiment, but later transferred to Company G of the 85th Infantry Regiment. During combat operations in Italy, Brooks received the Bronze Star medal for his actions at Marzola Hill 762 on April 15, 1945. He attained the rank of Private First Class.
