Summary: The interview provides information and personal observations about Gordon's experiences: attraction of the 10th Mountain Division; conditions at Camp Hale and the "D" series; climbing Riva Ridge and surprising German troops at the top; observing action on Mt. Belvedere from Riva Ridge; fighting at Torre Iussi, being wounded, other soldiers who were also wounded and killed; aiding Peter Seibert until medics arrived; serving patrols on the Yugoslav border; serving as a citizen soldier in the counter intelligence corps after the war

Biographical or historical data: Andrew Gordon was born in N.Y. on September 16, 1924 and enlisted in the Army at Boston, Mass. on June 10, 1943. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried, and had completed four years of high school. Gordon joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company F of the 86th Infantry Regiment. He also served at Camp Swift, Tex. before being sent to Italy. Gordon was wounded in action and recieved the Bronze Star medfal for his actions at Torre Iussi on April 14, 1945. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Gordon died in Seattle, Wash. on October 11, 2005.
